2008/09 Changes

Species Data Changes:

Taxonomic and rank changes are described in:

Please note the new format for the changes documents. They are now in Excel so you can sort by species group, 2008 List Status or 2009 List Status making it easier to review changes. Please send any comments or feedback on this new format to cdcdata@gov.bc.ca.

Ecological Community Changes:

2009 Ecological Community Changes (Excel File 115 KB). Changes include:

  • Provincial and Global Conservation Status has changed for several ecological communities.
  • Conservation Status reports are available for several more ecological communities through BC Species and Ecosystems Explorer.
  • Distribution data (Biogeoclimatic unit, Forest District, Ecosection, Ministry of Environment Region and Regional District) have been refined for some ecological communities.
  • Range maps have been revised to be consistent with distribution refinements and some new range maps have been added.

2007/08 Changes

BC Species and Ecosystems Explorer Changes:

A simplified search page with an “accordion” format.

 

The ability to search for:

  • species by RISC codes and synonyms,
  • marine fish and tiger beetles,
  • species/ecosystems by MoE Regions and by Municipal Regional Districts,
  • ecological community by Ecosystem Group.

Direct links to Google Maps to view known locations of species/ecosystems at risk.

 

Bibliographic links to:

  • new documents including status reports, recovery plans, best management practices, and range/distribution maps for bats and Identified Wildlife species
  • the new Cross-Linked Information Repositories (CLIR),
  • Habitat Wizard for fish.

New and improved help pages, FAQs, Glossary, and Advanced Search Tips.
