Volunteer Park Host Opportunity - Mabel Lake Provincial Park

Mabel Lake Provincial ParkThe Volunteer Park Host Program is a hospitality service to park visitors. The role of the host is to enhance visitor services and to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for park visitors.

By greeting park visitors and providing them with information about things to do in the park and surrounding area, volunteer park hosts offer an important service.

The Park Host is responsible for the following:

  • On duty a minimum of 4 hours per day, 5 days per week, preferably in the afternoons and/or evenings and on weekends.
  • Help with firewood sales.

Although volunteers receive no financial remuneration for this position, in exchange for volunteer hours, the volunteer is given free camping in the park with full hook-up.

The job typically begins middle to end of June and services are required through Labour Day (September 6, 2010).  It may be possible for the park host to begin earlier or to stay on longer if desired.  It is also possible for park hosts to work part time in the park outside of their volunteering commitment, completing an assortment of jobs; however, the hosting job is first and foremost and must not suffer due to part time work.
