Volunteer Park Host Opportunity - Kakwa provincial Park

Kakwa Provincial Park

The Volunteer Park Host Program is a hospitality service to park visitors. The role of the host is to enhance visitor services and to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for park visitors. By greeting park visitors and providing them with information about things to do in the park and surrounding area, volunteer park hosts offer an important service.

Kakwa Provincial Park has limited volunteer host opportunities for both the summer and winter seasons.  Each season requires different skill sets, but in both instances the isolated location requires that the hosts be self sufficient.

Hosting duties consist of:

  • greeting visitors to Kakwa Lake and collecting data such as where visitors are from and where they are going in the park,;
  • keeping facilities clean and functional;
  • performing small projects/tasks; and ,
  • reporting into the Area Supervisor on a scheduled basis.

These duties leave many hours for the hosts to enjoy hiking, exploring, wildlife viewing, photography, and other outdoor activities.

Due to the isolation of the park and related safety concerns, we require that two park hosts are on site to perform these duties.

Hosts will be provided with a cabin to stay in while in the park, as well as the use of a communications system to permit regular check in.
