Volunteer Park Host Opportunity - Kakwa provincial Park
The Volunteer Park Host Program is a hospitality service to
park visitors. The role of the host is to enhance visitor services
and to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for park visitors.
By greeting park visitors and providing them with information about
things to do in the park and surrounding area, volunteer park hosts
offer an important service.
Kakwa Provincial Park has limited volunteer host opportunities
for both the summer and winter seasons. Each season requires
different skill sets, but in both instances the isolated location
requires that the hosts be self
Hosting duties consist of:
- greeting visitors to Kakwa
Lake and collecting data such as where visitors are from and
where they are going in the park,;
- keeping facilities clean and functional;
- performing small projects/tasks;
- reporting into the Area Supervisor
on a scheduled basis.
These duties leave many hours for the hosts to enjoy
hiking, exploring, wildlife viewing, photography, and other outdoor
Due to the isolation of the park and related safety concerns, we
require that two park hosts are on site to perform these duties.
Hosts will be provided with a cabin to stay in while in the park, as well
as the use of a communications system to permit regular check in.
