Senior Park Ranger/Park Ranger
Application Information

 

The deadline to submit an application for the park ranger or senior ranger positions was 4:30 p.m. April 30, 2008.  No applications are currently being taken.

Have you always wanted to work outdoors?  


BC Parks is looking for qualified individuals to work as seasonal park rangers in provincial parks throughout the province. Senior Ranger positions may be available in specific regions. Positions will include frontcountry, backcountry or marine parks. A season can last from 4 – 8 months.

Relevant education and experience requirements

Senior Park Ranger (Grid 13):
  • Diploma in an Outdoor Recreation Management or Natural Resource Management related field (related field may include: Biology, Geology, Geography, Recreational Planning, Outdoor Recreation, Forestry, Fisheries, Anthropology); and
  • 2 years related experience (related experience can include: Park system (operations), conservation, outdoor recreation, forestry, any earth sciences, recreation planning, public safety /enforcement); OR
  • Degree plus 6 months related experience; OR
  • Grade 12 graduation or GED plus 4 years related experience.
Park Ranger – (Grid 11)
  • Related degree or diploma as above; OR
  • Grade 12 graduation or GED plus 2 years related experience as above.

If you wish to be considered, you must have the following requirements at the date of hiring:

  • A valid BC Drivers Licence (Class 5) or equivalent from another Canadian Province
  • Valid Workers Compensation Board (WCB) Occupational First Aid Level 1, 2 or 3 (Applicants are responsible to ensure their certificate is recognized by WCB)
  • Public Safety/Park Security Training (Parts 1&2) through BC Institute of Technology. (These courses are referred to as Law and its Administration #3310 and #3120) If not already obtained, candidates must be enrolled in these courses at the time of applying and provide proof of completion on the employment date of hire. Additional qualifications may be required for some regions such as:

  • Valid Possession and Acquisition Licence/CORE
  • MED-A3/A4 Boating certificates
