About This Protected Area

Damdochax Protected Area is an internationally significant recreational fishing area, and provides habitat to a wide range of wildlife and fish species. The wetland complex found in the protected area is important to moose and waterfowl.

Established Date: April 18, 2001

Park Size: 8,129 hectares

Damdochax Protected Area is a wilderness area approximately 140 km northeast of Hazelton. There is no road access to the protected area. Access is by air only. The nearest communities, towns and cities are New Hazelton and Old Hazelton.
