Purden Lake Provincial Park became a new hotspot for youth and adults alike as they celebrated, explored and played upon a brand new playground at a community event funded by the Licence Plate Program.

This playground, the first of its kind in a Northern BC Provincial Park, includes universally accessible features – such as the rubber ground tiles, ramps, and a swinging platform. Throughout the afternoon the park buzzed with excited energy as kids blew bubbles, ate cupcakes, and experienced how the universal-accessible features contributed to the unique design of the playground by putting themselves in someone else’s “shoes” – or rather “wheels” – testing out the playground’s ramps using Access BC’s wheelchairs.
