Whitebark Pine tree with a blister rust infection
Whitebark Pine cone

Whitebark pine is an endangered alpine tree species that supplies food and habitat for many other species. An invasive blister rust has been infecting whitepark pine trees across the province. Few infected trees survive. Through this work supported by licence plate funds, we have joined forces with partners to survey whitebark pine populations, protect their cones through the summer and are now collecting seeds that can be replanted in parks later.
