What is Parks Day?

Parks all across Canada are celebrating Parks Day, a national day to recognize the importance of parks and the contributions they make to healthy, happy, and diverse ecosystems. Parks Day occurs on the third Saturday in July (July 20th, 2019) and provides Canadians with an opportunity to participate in fun, educational, and family-oriented events at parks and historic sites across the country.

Parks Day was first celebrated in 1990 to celebrate parks in Canada and inspire the public to enjoy and support these spaces. Twenty-nine years later, we still think parks deserve a celebration, and we are excited to offer Parks Day activities to inspire all British Columbians to participate in stewardship and recreation across the province.
