100 for 100 Park Bench Challenge Bench Locations

100 Park Benches for 100 Years of BC Parks
Celebrate BC Parks’ Legacy – and yours.

To help celebrate BC Parks’ centennial, we invited you to join in the
"100 for 100 Park Bench Challenge."  This initiative challenges community groups, businesses, individuals and families to come together and sponsor a bench in a provincial park.

Is there a special birthday, anniversary or graduation you’d like to celebrate? Or do you simply want to show your community that you care and support BC’s provincial parks?

Each park bench costs $1,500 Canadian. This includes tax, a customized plaque and installation costs. Sponsors will receive a charitable tax receipt for their contribution.

British Columbia Magazine was the first organization to sponsor a centennial bench and is challenging other companies and organizations to meet the 100 for 100 Park Bench Challenge.

"For 52 years, our readers have enjoyed the best of British Columbia
in the pages of our publication," says Jane Nahirny, editor of British Columbia Magazine. "We are thrilled to now give people a place to rest while they enjoy one of our beautiful parks."

Sharing Stories of Sponsorship

We have heard so many amazing stories about why people are sponsoring a park bench.  We thought we would share a few of them with you here. Click here to read some heartwarming stories about bench sponsorships across B.C.

The 100 for 100 Park Bench: A Sustainable Design

  • These limited-edition centennial benches have the appearance of wood but are actually made from recycled plastic. They are "cedar" in colour and designed to withstand a wide range of temperatures and colour fading. Planks are arranged in a manner that contours the human body.
  • Benches have a full steel frame, including arm rests that are sealed and coated to prevent corrosion, rusting and/or cracking. Benches will be installed on a durable concrete slab.
  • Benches will be maintained for 10 years, but may not be replaced if completely destroyed by vandalism or an Act of God before the end of the term. If this occurs, the plaque will be returned to the donor if it is salvageable.

Recognizing your bench:

  • Your bench will have a bronze-casted, customized plaque, with an option to include your company or organization’s logo.
  • A photo of your sponsored bench (with you and/or your staff?) will be posted on our website to recognize your contribution.
  • You will receive a Certificate of Recognition and a charitable tax receipt for the full amount paid ($1,500).

Ordering your bench:

  • Click on the map of BC to browse pre-identified park bench locations. Select a location and note the bench ID# for ordering purposes. We apologize, but we can no longer take requests for other bench locations. The unsponsored locations on the park bench map are the only locations available at this time.
  • If you have another location in mind, please contact BC Parks to request another site. Please note: BC Parks staff must approve requested locations to ensure installation is feasible and the location is suitable.
  • Determine what message you want included on your customized plaque.
  • Benches may take up to 6-8 weeks to install from date of purchase.
  • Order your bench by contacting BC Parks:
