Sasquatch Provincial Park

Welcome
Located north of Harrison Hot Springs, this park is characterized by a series of pocket lakes, a unique second-growth and birch forest, and scenic mountain ridges. Hicks and Deer Lakes are ideal for motor-boating and canoeing while Trout Lake provides a tranquil fishing experience.

location
The park is located about 6km north of Harrison Hot Springs, just off of Highway 7. Drive east from Vancouver towards Hope, and take the Harrison Hot Springs exit (approximately 2 ½ hours from Vancouver). There are signs to follow through Harrison Hot Springs and Green Point.

Recreation Opportunities

Hiking:
There are two easy hiking trails (one is four km return (about 1 ½ hours) and the other is two km return (45 minutes), as well as one interpretive trail (500m loop).

Day-Use/Picnicking:
Facilities are available at Hicks Lake and Lakeside campgrounds. Green Point has picnic tables and parking. Green Point and Hicks Lake have grassy areas. Hicks Lake and Deer Lake both have sandy beaches, while Green Point has rocky beaches. Barbeque attachments are fixed to picnic tables. Day-use vehicle parking: $5/vehicle/day or $1/vehicle for 1 hour.

Swimming:
Swimming areas are located at Deer Lake, Hicks Lake (warm in the summer), and Harrison Lake (can be cool during summer months).

Canoeing and Kayaking:
Canoeing is welcome. Commercial rentals are available at Hicks and Deer Lake.There are no marine accessible campsites.

Viewing Opportunities:
There are great wildlife viewing opportunities at Beaver Pond trail. There are a number of mammal and bird species, as well as rare species that have been spotted in Sasquatch Provincial Park. These species include beaver, mountain goat, woodpecker, warbler, bald eagle, and tailed frogs.

Other Recreation:
Bicycles are permitted on road portions of Hicks Lake trail and Moss Lake road. There are windsurfing and waterskiing opportunities at Harrison Lake. Freshwater fishing for rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, and brook char. Fishing requires the appropriate licensing.

Camping opportunities
Reservations can be made no more than 3 months in advance at www.discovercamping.com. Reservations at Bench campground can be made for June- September, at Hicks Lake for May- September, and at Lakeside for May- September.

Group Sites:
There is one group site at Hicks Lake campground available. The site accommodates 15-50 people, with a covered shelter available, and picnic tables (no barbeque attachments).
Group camping: $14/party/night
Youth Group camping: $50/group/night

Vehicle Accessible/Frontcountry Walk-in Sites:
In total, there are 3 campgrounds in the park: Hicks Lake (71 vehicle accessible sites), Bench (64 vehicle accessible site), and Lakeside at Deer Lake (42 vehicle accessible sites). Hicks Lake and Bench campgrounds are open from May- October and May- September, respectively. Lakeside campground at Deer Lake is open year- round.

  • Forest Games:  Play games and find out what its like to be an animal in the forest.  You might be an owl, or a bear.... 
  • Batty About Bats:  Learn all about these mysterious creatures of the night.
  • Bug Hunt:  Make your own bug vacuum!  After you're done, join your Park Naturalist for a bug safari. 
  • Sasquatch!: Myth or Mystery:  You decide.
  • Bear Country:  Learn all about bears, play trivia, and see a slide show of beautiful pictures.         
  • Programs are by donations, with a suggested donation of $1-$5.

  • Vehicles parked overnight at Green Point parking lot will be towed as there is no overnight parking permitted.

Water:
Cold water taps are located throughout Lakeside (Deer Lake) and Bench campgrounds. There are hand pumps at Hicks Lake and Bench campgrounds. The only day-use area with water taps is Green Point.

Toilets/Showers:
Thre are pit toilets throughout the campgrounds and park. Flush toilets are available at the Green Point day-use area which also has electrical outlets for hair dryers, etc.

Wheelchair Accessibility:
Green Point day-use area has wheelchair accessible toilets available.
