History Programs How To Volunteer

Welcome to the BC Parks Volunteer Community!

BC Parks is working towards a sustainable and robust volunteer program through the development of a volunteer strategy in 2012.

During February-March 2012, BC Parks staff held eleven workshops across the province – from Victoria to Haida Gwaii to Cranbrook – to request input on development of an upcoming volunteer strategy for BC Parks. BC Parks consulted with volunteers, park facility operators and stakeholders and the general public. Two hundred people attended the workshops and another 500 responded to an online survey. We are currently working to develop a strategy that addresses the feedback that we heard during the workshops.

As part of the volunteer strategy we have developed this online community as a place for you:

  • to learn more about BC Parks volunteers;
  • connect with other volunteer groups; and,
  • eventually enable you to link to volunteer opportunities within your own communities!

Some parts of the volunteer community website are still in development and will expand as the volunteer strategy is developed. For now, we invite you to check out the different parts of the community from our volunteer partners page to our story-telling blog where we would love to hear from you!
