The Osoyoos Indian Band is seeking applications for Volunteer Hosts for sẁiẁs park (Haynes Point). The role of the Volunteer Host is to enhance visitor services by creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the campground. Volunteer Hosts work under the direction of the Park Manager and Park Operator (i.e. Osoyoos Indian Band) to provide a welcoming atmosphere in the park. Volunteer Hosts are responsible for welcoming visitors to the park, providing information on the park and surrounding area, helping to sell firewood and opening or closing park gates.

This is a non-paid position. Volunteer hosts are asked to perform a minimum of 20 volunteer hours a week.

Although Volunteer Hosts receive no financial remuneration for this position, in exchange for volunteer hours, the volunteer is given a complimentary campsite with hook-ups for the duration of their season.

Volunteer Hosts position is currently available from June to the end of September.


Although specific duties may vary, Volunteer Hosts are expected to perform the following basic duties:

  • Welcome and assist park visitors by providing them with information about the park and surrounding area.
  • Understand and educate park visitors on campground rules and regulations (please note that Volunteer Hosts are not responsible for enforcing the rules).
  • Assist the Park Operator in selling firewood and opening and closing park gates.
  • Communicate with Park Manager daily regarding any issues that need immediate attention.
  • Maintain a clean host site.
