Working as a Contaminated Sites Officer is challenging in that case files for high risk contaminated sites can be diverse and, in some cases, quite complex. Investigative skills, along with technical expertise and working knowledge of current legislation, is required to serve as the ministerial point of contact for the different sectors and agencies involved in the contaminated site. Being a Contaminated Sites/Risk Assessment Officer is quite rewarding in that the work is very relevant, and changes and improvements can be observed and tracked over time.
