$42,000 – $80,000

Dike Safety Specialist
The Dike Safety Specialist is our expert responsible for fulfilling statutory responsibilities under the Dike Maintenance Act, assessing flood protection needs; assisting local government in implementation of new works; monitoring and auditing the maintenance of existing flood protection systems; approving changes to dikes under the Dike Maintenance Act, and conducting complex engineering assessments. Our Dike Safety Specialist is also responsible for planning for and responding to floods as set out in the BC Flood Plan.
As this is a more senior role, to be considered for a similar position you would need to possess either a Masters in Civil Engineering, graduate level training in Geotechnical Engineering and/or River Engineering and 3 years directly related experience or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with graduate level training in Geotechnical Engineering and/or River Engineering and 5 years directly related experience. In addition to the education and experience requirements you should be knowledgeable regarding geotechnical principals and practice related to dike design and construction and embankment stability and seepage analysis, and river engineering principles and practice related to dike erosion protection and dike design. An ability to supervise technical staff and contractors, and demonstrate skill in working with various engineering software models is essential.
