Annual Salary Range
$62,000 – $74,000
The Ministry of Environment employs Section Heads throughout the province each of which is responsible for delivering on their own unique program. The work portfolio varies for each Section Head. For example the Fish,& Wildlife, Science & Allocation Section Head is responsible for maintaining biodiversity, and the protection and conservation of native fish and wildlife species, whereas the Environmental Management Section Head focuses on monitoring and reporting on compliance and the environmental impact of air, water and land discharges, environmental emergencies and contaminated sites. While the specifics of the work can vary, all Section Heads are responsible for the coordination, supervision and management of their program. They are also all responsible for providing their expert advice to their regional manager and managing their teams of technical staff.
To be considered as a Section Head you must possess a masters or bachelors degree or diploma in natural resource management, and several years of related experience. You should also have a broad knowledge of various natural resource conservation/management issues. This job requires you to apply your excellent interpersonal, leadership and problem-solving skills to manage change and establish strong and effective working relationships. Project management skills are preferred.
