High Value Wetlands for Moose for Cariboo Region

This mapping project was initiated in 2002 in order to identify high value wetlands for moose to meet objectives of the Cariboo-Chilcotin Land Use Plan. Although edits to the project are being completed during the winter of 2003-2004, the project has been released as draft in the interim. The project consists of an ARCView/GOAT theme of ‘High Value’ Wetlands, a final report, and a wetland database and accompanying metadata report. The two reports are available by clicking on the links below, while the spatial data and database are available either through GOAT (internal government only) or via a data request to Cariboo Region staff.

Caution should be exercised when utilizing this mapping for planning purposes, as the project is currently only in draft form. Some areas of the region have not been mapped, and additional buffers around the wetland polygons may be required to adequately protect moose winter habitat.
