Climate Change Adaptation Strategy

As we continue to implement the Climate Action Plan, the Province is moving ahead with coordinated actions to help B.C. adapt to climate change. Building on past accomplishments, the Adaptation Strategy provides policy direction for the B.C. Government.

The Strategy addresses three main themes that provide a solid framework to addresses climate change impacts and adaptation.

1. Build a strong foundation of knowledge and tools to help public and private decision-makers across B.C. prepare for a changing climate.

2. Make adaptation a part of B.C. Government’s business, ensuring that climate change impacts are considered in planning and decision-making across government.

The B.C. Government is integrating climate change adaptation into its programs, policies and other decisions. Examples include:

3. Assess risks and implement priority adaptation actions in key climate sensitive sectors.

Implementation will be a staged process, beginning with one or two key sectors in 2010/2011.
