Thompson-Okanagan Citizens' Conservation Council

On September 24, 2008 the provincial government appointed seven regional Citizens' Conservation Councils on Climate Action to help build a network for grassroots climate action across British Columbia.

The councils represented the following regions:

  • Vancouver Island-Coast
  • Lower Mainland-Southwest
  • Thompson Okanagan
  • Kootenay
  • Cariboo-Prince George
  • Skeena-North Coast
  • Northeast

The Citizens' Conservation Councils advised government on the best ways to encourage individuals, groups and communities in their regions to learn more about climate change, participate in climate action initiatives and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Each council included citizens who represent their region's youth, seniors, municipal government, local business, First Nations, community groups and educational institutions.
