PEM References

The Predictive Ecosystem Mapping (PEM) process was first developed as an alternative to the more labour intensive Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping methodology. As individual PEM methodologies evolved a number of analytical discussion papers and reports were drafted in hopes of refining the overall predictive process and creating a common standard. Links to these documents are provided below:

  1. A ‘White Paper’ outlining progress towards the development of RISC [formerly RIC] standards for predictive ecosystem mapping (PEM) entitled “Towards the Establishment of Predictive Ecosystem Mapping Standards: A White Paper” (PDF 407KB). The paper also portrays current information on predictive ecosystem mapping, including PEM approaches and a glossary of terms.

  2. A “Situation Analysis of Knowledge Based Systems” (PDF 233KB) by David Moon of CDT-Core Decision Technologies Inc.

  3. A “Problem Analysis on Data Quality Assessment Issues” (PDF 252KB) by David Moon of CDT-Core Decision Technologies Inc.

  4. “Mapping Entities,” (PDF 80.1KB) draft report.

  5. “Specifications for PEM,” (PDF 135KB) version 2.1.

  6. A “Problem Analysis on Inventory Reliability, Quality Control and Validation” (PDF 245KB) by Richard Sims and Jeff Matheson of RA Sims and Associates
