Monitoring status

Recent PM_2.5 measurements at the Kelowna KLO Road air quality station have been impacted by an operational issue with the monitoring equipment which has also affected the calculation of the AQHI for the Central Okanagan. Ministry of Environment and Parks staff are working to investigate and resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Visit AQ Warnings for daily updates regarding wildfire smoke in the region. Follow your common sense: reduce your smoke exposure and stop or reduce your activity level if breathing becomes uncomfortable or you feel unwell.

If the AQHI index has increased to 7 (high health risk), it is usually because of high concentrations of smoke particles (PM2.5) in this community.
