Reducing Greenhouse Gases in British Columbia

The Climate Action Plan outlines strategies and initiatives to move B.C. about 73% towards meeting the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 33% by 2020. It also provides information on how British Columbians can reduce energy consumption and save money while reducing their GHG emissions.

The B.C. Community Energy and Emissions Inventory (CEEI) initiative is being undertaken to provide community energy- and greenhouse-gas-inventory reports for all B.C. local governments. These inventories will help municipalities plan and implement effective strategies for managing greenhouse gas emissions and energy use.

Preparing for Climate Change in British Columbia

Leaders' Roundtable on Climate Change Adaptation in B.C., May 05-06, 2009
NEW MAY 2009

The roundtable event, held in Vancouver, B.C. was initiated by the Conference Board of Canada and co-organized by the Ministry of Environment's Climate Change Branch. The Vancouver meeting was part of the Conference Board of Canada's examination of concrete actions on climate change adaptation across the country. This event brought together government, research organizations and private industry to examine and discuss leading examples of climate change adaptation in B.C. This report discusses how the Ministry of Forests and Ranges (MoFR) should address the potential impacts of climate change on the province’s forest and range resources.
