Guideline Documents

These guideline documents were created to aid hazardous waste generators and management facilities, consultants and others to manage hazardous waste above the generator registration quantity (Schedule 6). These documents detail the changes to the Hazardous Waste Regulation (HWR) along with the requirements for financial security and plans requiring approval under the HWR.

• Guidelines for Preparing Contingency Plans for Carriers of Hazardous Waste (PDF/374 KB)
  This document contains guidelines on how to prepare a contingency plan for the transportation of hazardous waste. The main purpose of these guidelines is to promote development of comprehensive and consistent emergency response plans by the transportation industry in cooperation with the federal, provincial and local governments. Users have the responsibility of judging the extent of the guideline suitability to their specific situation.

• Contingency Plan Outline (PDF/272 KB)
  This document outlines the contents of a contingency plan for carriers of hazardous waste. Details of each component of the outline is found in the Guidelines for Preparing Contingency Plans for Carriers of Hazardous Waste.

• Generator Registration (BCG) Application Guidance Document (PDF/360 KB)
  

  This guideline will assist generators of hazardous wastes and/or their agents on how to fill out a generator registration form.

• Manual for Completing British Columbia's Hazardous Waste Manifests and Supplementary Forms
