2004 Amendments
British Columbia is an active supporter of the Canadian Council for Ministers of the Environment endorsed National Action Plan and Strategy to Accelerate the Phasing Out of Uses of CFCs and Halons and to Dispose of the Surplus Stocks.
Based on stakeholder input, in May 2001 the National Action Plan was updated by the Canadian Council for Ministers of the Environment to accelerate the phase-out of CFC and halon uses, and dispose of surplus stocks of these ozone-depleting substances.
In order to harmonize with the updated National Action Plan and Alberta's recent move to adopt the plan, the Ministry of Environment has amended its Provincial Ozone Depleting Substances and Other Halocarbons Regulation. These amendments include additional CFC refill restrictions for the mobile and commercial refrigeration sectors, refill restrictions for halon fire extinguishers and implementation of revised seller take back provisions for surplus CFC refrigerators.
2006 Amendments
In 2006, a minor housekeeping amendment was made to wording in the regulation.
