Draft Explanatory Notes for Review

Phase One of the Explanatory Notes for Forestry, Noxious Weed and Industrial Vegetation Managers is now available.

The purpose of the Explanatory Notes for the Integrated Pest Management Regulation is to provide guidance to licensees and confirmation holders in forestry, noxious weed and industrial vegetation management. The document contains a summary of relevant requirements, guidance on interpreting the Regulation, examples of compliant activities, and sources of additional information. This publication should aid proponents in achieving voluntary compliance with the IPM Regulation.

The draft document will be released in two phases. Phase One explains requirements associated with developing a Pest Management Plan (PMP). Phase Two provides guidance on interpreting requirements on the rest of the Regulation.  Please note that some references to sections in Phase One will not be available until Phase Two has been released for comment.

The draft Phase Two of the Explanatory Notes is targeted for release for comments later in 2011. The comment period for Phase Two will likely close 4 to 6 weeks following posting to the ministry website. Once complete, Phase One and Phase Two will be merged into a single reference publication and released.
