Stewardship Agencies
Two stewardship agencies, established by the beverage industry, help meet industry’s responsibilities under the Recycling Regulation — Encorp Pacific (Canada) and the Brewers Distributor Ltd.
Up until June of 2007, the Liquor Distribution Branch assisted producers of alcoholic beverages sold in B.C. in fulfilling the requirements of the Recycling Regulation. The Liquor Distribution Branch is in the final stages of transitioning this responsibility to both the Brewers Distributor Ltd and Encorp Pacific (Canada).
Encorp Pacific (Canada) is responsible for non-alcohol beverage containers as well as most beverage alcohol containers, except for alcohol cans and refillable containers. Beverage alcohol containers packaged in cans and refillable bottles are the responsibility of the Brewers Distributor Ltd. (BDL). To confirm containers managed by the BDL, please visit www.beerbottlerefund.com
