Continental Mine: 2003 Impact Assessment

The report summarizes results of monitoring conducted by Kootenay Region Environmental Protection Section to evaluate impacts from the Continental Mine. This historic lead / silver mine is located in northern Idaho and operated until the 1940s. Tailings from the mine were deposited into Blue Joe Creek, causing extensive metals contamination of the water and sediments within Blue Joe Creek, which flows to the transboundary systems of Boundary Creek and the Kootenay River.
