The Environmental Protection Division (EPD) is responsible for regulating waste discharges to the land, air and water for the entire Lower Mainland. We are also responsible for regulating the clean-up of contaminated sites, emergency spill response and hazardous waste storage, treatment and disposal. Our Environmental Quality group assesses the impacts of pollution from a wide variety of sources and completes ambient monitoring of the air, land, plants and water.
