  • Skeena - BVLD Wood Stove Exchange Program - 2004 (PDF/97 KB/18 pages)

This report details the Fall 2004 exchange program in Skeena Region. Old, low efficiency stoves were changed out for new, high efficiency appliances. The program was one strategy outlined in the BVLD Airshed Management Plan for reducing emissions and impacts from wood heating.

  • PAH Monitoring in British Columbia - 1995

This extract outlines PAH (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon) production, sources, sinks, health effects and air quality monitoring, as well as proposals for future work in Skeena Region in this area (Johnson, D.D. 1995. Workshop Proceedings: Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in British Columbia. Environment Canada. (Program Abstracts, p. 10).

  • Air Toxics Monitoring in British Columbia - 1998 (PDF/1.1 MB/28 pages)

This report outlines the emphasis Skeena Region has placed on the monitoring and assessment of air toxics, including particulate matter and PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons), as well as the emerging topic of metals. A review of the status of these programs and a presentation of results from the first part of a metals program for Kitimat are also presented (Johnson, D.D. 1998. Garrett, C. (ed.). Air Quality and the Health of Our Ecosystem Workshop. Environment Canada, Health Canada, and British Columbia Ministry of Environment, Land and Parks).

  • Bulkley Valley Inhalable Particulate Summary - 1998 (PDF/433 KB/59 pages)

This report (an updated version is also available current to February 2000) discusses sources of particulate matter in the Bulkley Valley and how those emissions, coupled with local topography and meteorology can, under the right conditions, result in air quality episodes (Johnson, D.D. 1998. British Columbia Ministry of Environment).

  • Air Quality Summary and Assessment: Bulkley Valley-Lakes District - 2002
    (PDF/7.95 MB/73 pages)

This report focuses on the entire period of record for continuous particulate matter monitoring in the Bulkley Valley-Lakes District airshed. Included are exceedance analyses for reference levels and objectives, as well as an estimate of annual exposure for each monitored community in the airshed. Trends in the data are presented, as are some initial discussions of their potential causes. The report also contains an overview of meteorology in each monitored community.
