Drinking Water Source Quality Monitoring 2002-03: Atlin and Area

Atlin Provincial Park

The provincial government recently created a Drinking Water Action Plan to prevent contamination of drinking water, identify potential risks and improve water quality. Although Health Authorities such as the Northern Health Authority (NHA) play the primary role in implementing the action plan, many other agencies are involved. The BC Ministry of Environment (MOE) manages and regulates activities in watersheds that have a potential to affect water quality, and plays a role in protecting and monitoring drinking water quality at its source. MOE is committed to improved protection of drinking water sources, and it has recently formed a partnership with the Taku River Tlingit First Nation (TRTFN) and the NHA to assess source water quality at Atlin Lake.

This document is part of a series presenting the results of MOE Skeena Region's 2002-04 water quality monitoring program. It assesses drinking water sources in the Atlin area.

The report has been broken into four separate documents for ease of access.
