Air Quality Reports

Developed by a multi-stakeholder committee, the Merritt Air Quality Management Plan builds on the report below (Air Quality in Merritt, British Columbia, 2006). It recommends 22 ways to reduce particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) — including cutting emissions from industry, domestic wood stoves, open burning, roadways and construction sites.

This report describes the primary pollutants in Merritt and their effects on health. It also provides a technical analysis of pollutant concentrations and a qualitative estimate of their sources. It recommends that the City of Merritt begin airshed management planning to protect and improve air quality.
