Pacific Place on the north shore of False Creek was once the industrial heart of Vancouver with saw mills, a coal gasification plant, metal shops, wood preserving operations and a CPR rail yard. The 82 hectare property was used for the Expo 86 World’s Fair and then sold to Concord Pacific Developments Ltd. Remediation began in 1991 and much of the property has since been turned into parkland, residential housing, and centres for commerce and/or public gatherings.
