Located between industrial Victoria and a residential area on the Gorge in Victoria, this award-winning brownfield is the location of the old Victoria sawmill. Purchased in 1991 and remediated to residential standards, the Selkirk Waterfront now features housing, a school and daycare facility, restaurants, a fitness centre, rowing and kayaking services and office space including the headquarters offices for the Ministry of Environment. The remediation has also facilitated the return of wildlife to the Gorge including harbour seals, hummingbirds, waterfowl, and herring.
