2. September 2002 Interim Report of the Minister's Advisory Panel on Contaminated Sites
On September 3, 2002 the Panel released its Interim Draft Report to the Minister.
3. Stakeholder Submissions to the Panel
In response to the commitment for an open and transparent process, the Advisory Panel received permission from a majority of respondents to post their submissions. These reports from stakeholders and interested citizens are available below.
4. Background on Panel Review of the Contaminated Sites Program
On May 14, 2002 Joyce Murray, Minister of Water, Land and Air Protection appointed an advisory panel to carry out a review of the contaminated sites provisions in Part 4 of the Waste Management Act and the Contaminated Sites Regulation. The Panel was asked to review a number of key components of the contaminated sites regime and consulted with citizens and stakeholders to determine their needs and expectations.
The Panel provided an interim report to the Minister in September 2002, and its final report was publicly released on May 13, 2003. The recommendations of the Panel are being used to develop a new policy framework for the regulation of contaminated sites in British Columbia and informed subsequent legislative changes for the Spring 2003 Legislative session.
