FishMap

The Fish Inventory Mapping System (FishMap) is an ArcView extension designed for GIS data entry and map production for Reconnaissance (1:20000) Fish and Fish Habitat Inventory projects. FishMap includes a number of programs and utilities designed to automate the steps required to complete the phase 1-3 and 4-6 components of inventory projects.

FishMap Version 1.0

All data sets and map products created by this program have been designed to adhere to the "Standards for Fish and Fish Habitat Maps, Version 2.0, RIC 1998".

To obtain FishMap Version 1.0:

1. Create a directory userext on a drive of your choice (eg. c:\userext) ;
2. Download the fishmap.zip file to userext;
3. Unzip the file;
4. Read the installation instructions in the FishMap User Manual before proceeding.

FishMap Version 1.2

All data sets and map products created by this program have been designed to adhere to the "Standards for Fish and Fish Habitat Maps, Version 3.0, RIC 2001". This version of FishMap includes an HTML FishMap tutorial to provide detailed step-by-step examples of an entire Phase 1-3 and Phase 4-6 project.

To obtain FishMap Version 1.2:

1. Create a directory userext on a drive of your choice (eg. c:\userext);
2. Download the fishmapv1_2.zip file to userext;
3. Unzip the file
4. Download the FishMap User Manual (PDF 701KB) to userext.
5. Read the installation instructions in the FishMap User Manual before proceeding.

Caution to Users: The FishMap tool has undergone limited testing and may not have encountered every possible scenario that might occur in an inventory project or project data. Users are asked to report any problems and provide comments regarding the use of the FishMap tool and user documentation to the Aquatic Information. User support is available by contacting the Aquatic Information. The Ministry does not guarantee that products developed using FishMap conform to individual contract obligations. Contract deliverable details must be discussed with the contract manager.
