Ministry of Environment
Quarterly Compliance and Enforcement Summary
|
The Quarterly Compliance and Enforcement Summary demonstrates the Ministry of Environment's commitment to being publicly accountable for achieving its environmental protection responsibilities. The ministry establishes and administers a suite of environmental requirements aimed at protecting various aspects of our environment, human health and safety. These requirements can only be effective, however, if the parties subject to the requirements comply with them. For this reason, ensuring compliance is one of the ministry's key objectives. In order to achieve the highest rates of compliance with environmental requirements, the ministry undertakes a range of compliance promotion activities, including information, education and outreach. Staff resources are also dedicated to inspecting, monitoring and auditing activities to determine compliance rates. Compliance and enforcement responses highlighted in the Quarterly Compliance and Enforcement Summary are guided by the ministry's Compliance and Enforcement Policy and Procedure. This policy ensures a fair, consistent and structured response to regulatory non-compliance. 2009
