Nomination Guidelines

The Arbor Vitae Awards acknowledge individuals whose hard work, dedication and commitment make a difference in the betterment of B.C.’s environment.

Nominees “make a difference” through their commitment to, and work on one or more of a variety of aspects of environmental protection and stewardship, such as environmental sustainability, climate change, habitat restoration, protection of species and ecosystems, and resource conservation.

They “make a difference” in their communities and to the province as a whole either through their hands-on work, or through educating or promoting the benefits of sound environmental practices.

Nominating an Individual*

This is an open call for nominations. If you would like to nominate someone you know, please use our electronic nomination form, or print it out and fax it at 250 387-8894,
or mail it to:

Hard copies are also available at regional Ministry of Environment Offices
throughout the province.

Please note that nominations will close Saturday, June 23 .

Kindly notify the individual of your intent to nominate him or her.

Nominee Selection

A selection committee comprised of industry and environmental organization representatives, and Ministry of Environment’s senior officials, will choose six exceptional nominees whose actions make the most critical difference in the protection and stewardship of the environment in B.C.

Selection criteria will include innovation and impact of the work done, dedication, leadership, personal commitment, and instances of exemplary behaviour.

Awards

Selected nomineees will be notified as soon as we've reached a decision.

* A Note on Eligibility

To avoid conflict of interest, nominations for the following individuals will not be taken into account:

  • Provincial MLAs
  • Members of the Ministry of Environment’s Executive
  • Family members or close friends of the selection committee members
    or the Minister of Environment
