Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate an environmental champion – we received so many high-calibre nominations from all corners of British Columbia, it was truly a formidable task for the selection committee to choose only six winners.
On that note, I would like to extend a very special thanks to our dedicated selection committee volunteers: Chloe O' Loughlin, executive director of the B.C. chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society; Dallas Smith, President of the Nanwakolas Council; Natalie Zigarlick, CEO of the British Columbia Water and Waste Association; and Nancy Wilkin and Jim Mattison, Ministry of Environment Assistant Deputy Ministers for Environmental Stewardship and Water Stewardship, respectively.
While the winners were selected based on the critical impact and lasting legacy of their contributions to environmental protection and stewardship, please keep in mind that every single contribution to the environment, whether great or small, makes a difference – and it makes us all winners.
