Marine Fisheries |

Major goal - to advance provincial interests as they relate to the sustainable management and development of marine fisheries.
Objective - to provide enhanced social and economic benefits through responsible management practices that protect the environment and maintain viable healthy fish stocks. Strategies include:
- participation in advisory processes to ensure that federal management and decision making reflect provincial interest in Pacific fisheries
- advancing provincial interests in commercial and recreational marine fisheries through collaborative management arrangements
- participation in federal advisory processes, including those for Marine Protection Areas
- identify and support initiatives that increase First Nations participation in marine fisheries
- build and maintain international and intergovernmental relationships that address fisheries issues
- build and partner initiatives that enhance the recreational angling experience in British Columbia, in particular a renewal of the Georgia Strait Fisheries and other activities that will improve the quality, consistency and safety of the sport fisheries sector
