Conservation Officer of the Year Announced
Environment Minister Barry Penner (left) congratulates Kevin Van Damme at the B.C. Legislature for earning the distinction as the Outstanding Conservation Officer of the Year for 2008.
Van Damme joined the Conservation Officer Service (COS) in 1992 and was initially posted to the Lower Mainland where he proved himself an effective CO. Several years later, an opportunity arose for Van Damme to transfer to the COS office in Clearwater, where he remains today. The CO of the Year Award is awarded to a CO on the recognition by his or her peers to have gone above and beyond the normal call of duty to exemplify the values of the Conservation Office Service: integrity, public service and protection of the environment.
