CITES Permits

Attention: CITES applicants:

Effective Immediately:

Environment Canada has advised that the Province of BC MUST require copies of the official harvest documentation to prove that the applicant is in legal possession of the dead article(s) of wildlife and that the species has been legally harvested when applying for a CITES permit.

The documentation that may be required is a copy of the:

  • Resident (RH) or Non-Resident (NRH) basic hunting licence with species licence (NRS);
  • Compulsory Inspection Sheet, if applicable;
  • Trapping licence and the trapline number;
  • Export permit
  • Possession permit

Effective January 1, 2014, CITES for Appendix I species only (polar bear, whooping crane, sandhill crane (some subspecies), peregrine falcon, gyrfalcon) must be submitted on a CITES Canada application form and forwarded to CITES Canada at the following address:
