Bella Vista – Goose Lake Range Sensitive Ecosystems Inventory

Allan Brooks Nature Centre and Okanagan Indian Band initiated a proposal for a North Okanagan pilot Sensitive Ecosystems Inventory project on a 5728 ha upland area - the Bella Vista - Goose Lake Range.

The Real Estate Foundation of BC provided most of the funding for this project, with contributions from the Provincial government and the City of Vernon. Methodology was modeled after the Sensitive Ecosystems Inventory and wildlife habitat mapping in the Central Okanagan. Project direction was provided by a Steering Committee that included local government, Okanagan Indian Band, Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection, Ministry of Sustainable Resource Management, Okanagan University College, and Allan Brooks Nature Centre.
