This project presents Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM) with a Sensitive Ecosystems Inventory theme and provides updates to both the Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM) and Sensitive Ecosystems Inventory (SEI).

To respond to an urgent need for inventory information on rare and fragile ecosystems to support sound land management decisions.

This project covers the Joe Rich area, east of the city of Kelowna, along Mission, Joe Rich and Belgo Creeks. The study area covers portions of mapsheets 082E084, 082E085, 082E094 and 082E095 and falls within one biogeoclimatic unit, the Shuswap Moist Warm Interior Douglas-fir (IDFmw1) variant, and the Northern Okanagan Highlands (NOH) Ecosection. The area covers 4825 ha, and includes private and publicly-owned lands.

The Regional District of the Central Okanagan and the Real Estate Foundation provided funding for this project. The Ministry of Environment provided aerial photographs.

The project follows the Standard for Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping in B.C., 1998, at survey intensity level 4.

Field sampling was completed in 2006. Mapping was completed at 1:20 000 scale.
