BC Soils Information System (BCSIS)
Data

The information held in BCSIS consists of site descriptions, soil horizon data, and laboratory analysis results, collected during BC soil surveys conducted in the 1960’s through the 1980’s.

This data is currently available in Geodatabase and .CSV formats from  the Ministry of Environment at:
http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/esd/distdata/ecosystems/Soil_Data/BCSIS/

Previously, the soil survey site and soil horizon data were available via an online web-based query by latitude/longitude, NTS mapsheet or Project Name.  The BCSIS web application is no longer functional.

Soil and site descriptions  (DTEIF data) are also collected during ecosystem mapping projects.   This information is available from EcoCat (http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/ecocat/ ) by mapping project for Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM), Predictive Ecosystem Mapping (PEM) and Sensitive Ecosystem Inventory (SEI) projects.
