Access to Terrain and Soils Data, Maps and Reports
Introduction
This page provides links to sources of terrain/terrain stability, soils and related mapping, data and reports. Related mapping includes bioterrain mapping, surficial geology mapping, soil capability (for agriculture, forestry, and other), and other derivative soil mapping (soil drainage, potential for erosion, flooding, etc).
Mapping is available for interactive viewing, as downloadable GIS format files (.e00/.shp), downloadable raster images of maps (.jpg, .tiff, .pdf), or as print-on-demand hardcopy maps. Reports are available for viewing, as downloadable files (.pdf) or in hardcopy. Not all products are available in all formats. Digital products are available at no cost.
The Index of Data Sources table lists the sources of data (website/ftp/other) and identifies what kind of information is available. The [more info] buttons link to short descriptions of the data available from that source, plug-ins needed to run the application, and tips to assist first-time users of the site. The [direct link] is provided for the convenience of frequent users of the sites.
As additional data is compiled and loaded onto publicly accessible sites, this Index and associated access pages will be updated.
