Nanaimo MOU Sub-Agreement B
MEMORANDUM
OF UNDERSTANDING
For
Cooperation on Environmental Matters in the City of Nanaimo
SUB-AGREEMENT
A: COORDINATION MEETINGS
- The purpose
of Coordination Meetings among the City, B.C.E and F&O is to
review City-based major or special projects, annual work plans
or development applications of environmental concern and to resolve
outstanding issues of concern. More specifically, the meetings
will be the venue for expediting the review and processing of
applications, and to determine the appropriate conditions under
which development or work-related activities can proceed. The
Meetings do not replace the need for final written approval by
B.C.E and F&O where such approval is required by law, but will
assist in obtaining such approval.
- The coordination
meetings will also be the venue to ensure the timely completion
and adoption of Sub-agreements B through H.
- Resolution
of disputes will be brought forward to the coordination meetings
if necessary.
- The appropriate
staff who can present the relevant background information and
make decisions and commitments on behalf of their respective agencies
regarding the matters on the agenda will attend the Meetings.
- Coordination
Meetings will initially be held monthly on a regular date and
at a place to be determined at the initial meeting. The frequency
may change once a protocol has been established and need for meeting
has been assessed.
- The City
will be responsible for chairing the Meeting, organizing the agenda
and taking minutes. Agendas will be circulated a minimum of 5
working days before the meeting date, and minutes will be distributed
within 5 working days of the meeting.
