Project Profiles

Introduction

Throughout British Columbia various groups, organizations and agencies are coming together to address environmental issues. Due to the nature of non-point source water pollution, it is often a key component of these efforts even though it may not be the primary issue of concern.

Increasingly, communities have initiated projects to restore streams, beaches and watersheds, to organize volunteers to monitor water quality, and to educate and exchange information among businesses, farmers and

residents. Supporting these grass roots initiatives is recognized as a key component

of NPS pollution prevention. It is at this level that lifestyle and land-use practices that prevent NPS pollution are most readily affected.

This section is provided to recognize and communicate the efforts of groups throughout the province involved in long-term stewardship of our water resources. If you know of any current projects which should be profiled here please contact the Water Quality Section.
