Groups and organizations should establish a formal data sharing agreement to use the Species Inventory Database. For example, groups like the Canadian Wildlife Service, First Nations,
industries, and stakeholder associations may all wish to utilize the database to archive and to share
their information. Data sharing agreements increase trust by clarifying exactly what is to be shared,
security levels, stipulations of use, and they identify the principle contacts for the dataset.
To develop a data sharing agreement, contact David Tesch, Manager Ecosystems
Information Section by email.
Data Sharing Agreements are different than the Limited Use Agreement described on
the Secured and Sensitive
Data page. The Limited Use Agreement
defines the responsibilities of individual users of data. Data Sharing Agreements define long term
relationships between data provider groups and the Ministry of Environment.
