Information in the Species Inventory Database (SPI) is either secured or not secured. In
either case, once access is granted:
- You may utilize wildlife species inventory (WSI) data and reports within your
department, agency, business or corporation.
- Subcontractors that you oversee may also use the information for specific projects.
- WSI data may not be further distributed or sold in any format. Should individuals approach you
from outside of your organization to obtain WSI data, please refer
them to (http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/wildlife/wsi/index.htm) to obtain current data.
- The Species Inventory Database is continually being updated. Use only current downloads of WSI
data for analytical work.
- When you use data or reports gained from the database, please properly cite the original authors
of the material.
- If you desire to utilize data for research and analysis, please contact the original author of
the data as a courtesy to them.
Some projects in the Species Inventory Database are secured. Please refer to
Secured and Sensitive Data for more information on using secured data.
