"Biodiversity is life in all its forms
and the habitat and natural
processes that support it"
British Columbia is home to a rich diversity
and abundance of native species and habitats. Programs within
the Ministry of Environment endeavour to conserve biodiversity,
provide a variety of opportunities for the use and enjoyment of
this biodiversity in B.C., and maintain a balance between the needs of
native species and the needs of the people.
Species and ecosystems (habitats) in British Columbia
are managed through programs in Victoria and
regions (see map).
