Enter text to search for a particular species or ecological community. You need not enter the full name. Once at least three characters are entered, the autocomplete functionality will provide options in a pick list below the text box. Note that the autocomplete will include your entry as it occurs anywhere in the name and not just the beginning.

You may specify Scientific Name, English Name, Species Code (the standard provincial species codes or RISC Codes) or any combination of these three options by checking/unchecking the appropriate box. If none of the boxes are checked, the application will automatically search both Scientific and English Name.

Synonyms are automatically included in any species or ecological community search. Synonyms include former names or names under which species are legally listed in other jurisdictions. Although included in your search criteria, synonyms will only be visible in the results of the Export Results button at the top of the Results Page or on the BC Species Summary and BC Conservation Status reports available on the Reports and Reference Page.
